Meet Les GAMAL from the 2018 World of Dance Championships

World of Dance asks Les GAMAL About Their Journey to Championship Week
WOD: Can you give us a little background about the crew? How long have you been together and how did you meet?Les GAMAL: We are Loïck and Emerick, twin brothers, and dancers-choreographers and freestylerprofessionals from GUADELOUPE, a French island of Caribbean. Our duo, "Les GAMAL" exists since 2012, 2 years after having started our passion: the dance "HIP - HOP New Style" with our own choreographies.In 2012, first participation in a dance competition, and first victory. For 2 years (2014-2016), we trained at "THONY MASKOT SCHOOL" (Institute of Professional Training Hip Hop Dance) in PARIS and provided, at the same time, performances noticed on international stages.In addition, we are "laureates 1st Prize" of several national and European academic competitions, and have also won several competitions and battles choreographic urban notorious and very popular in FRANCE.WOD: What are you feeling going the Championships?Les GAMAL: We are very happy and honored to go there to represent France and GUADELOUPEbecause the WOD is a great competition in the dance mode. It is also an opportunity to present our vision of dance and our choreographic identity. This is one of our projects that is realized.WOD: What is your favorite part of competing in World of Dance?Les GAMAL: We don’t have any favorite part. The event is great in all these part of competing.WOD: What part of your dance, choreography, or performance are you most proud of?Les GAMAL: We are proud of “Flux Sanguins” (“blood flow” in English)", our first completedchoreography. She introduced us to the general public and represents our true choreographic identity.WOD: What exciting things will you be doing/focusing on in the next year?Les GAMAL: We want to tour internationally... a “GAMAL’sTour”.WOD: Why do you think dance is important to the world?Les GAMAL: Any type of arts is important for humanity. And, dance allows man/woman to expresshimself freely and emotionally with his body and to display universal values such as love, peace, enthusiasm, excellence.WOD: What’s your favorite part about being a crew?Les GAMAL: Our twinness and complicity, allow us, with great humility, to constantly seek excellence. A musicality where we constantly seek in our body language to "Be" Music. EXCELLENCE, that's what drives us.
