Derek’s dance resume is one to be admired: he was named the 2014 Male Dancer of the Year from the American Dance Award, made it to the Top Eight on Season 12 of “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 12, and landed the lead role in the Cirque Du Soleil show "Kooza." — a major personal accomplishment for Derek. He also owns his own post-secondary program called “Intrepid Dance Company” and has taught at over 300 competitive dance studios all over the world. Derek knows this may be his last chance to show the world who he is as a dancer as he will soon have to undergo surgery on both of his hips, something that may never allow him to perform the same again. Despite this, Derek is ready to face his most competitive dance challenge yet on the World of Dance stage.
