WOD: How did it feel when you found out you’d be on Season 3?
MW: I was extremely happy and honored that someone saw something in me and my dream was becoming a reality. I was proud of myself for the hard work I had put in and sacrifices that were made. It did not feel real for the longest time, I still freak out and get excited when I think about it.
WOD: What style are you performing, and why?
MW: Contemporary-Funk. I love contemporary because I can showcase my emotions and tell a story, and I like to add elements of Jazz/Funk because of the unique way I like to move my body. I have a difficult time expressing my emotions but when I am dancing I can let them flow.
WOD: How long have you been dancing?
MW: I've been dancing as long as I can remember. When I was 1 years old, I would try to mimic dancers that were dancing on tv. My parents finally enrolled me in dance at age 6 after years of me begging to take classes. I started to dance competitively after the first 6 months.
WOD: What do you think your fans would want to know about you?
MW: I would want them to know that I am extremely shy and it's hard for me to talk to people. It is a struggle everyday but I know I can work through it. I love to lip sync and pretend that I am a famous singer—I use a brush as it makes the best microphone. I would love to be a mermaid and I used to think I was.
WOD: What are you most excited/nervous about being on the show?
MW: I was nervous to be on the biggest stage in the world and to know that Jennifer Lopez, Derek and Ne-Yo would be judging me in front of the whole world.
WOD: What dance clubs or organizations have you been a part of?
MW: I have participated in Club Unify, a Special Olympics club, where I have made friendships with the special education kids and created a special bond with them. Every Friday is dance day and the teacher puts music on and all the kids just dance and have fun. There is so much laughter and it fills my heart to see their happiness.
