WOD: How did it feel when you found out you’d be on Season 3?
D: Thrilled and excited!J: I remember finding out and just throwing my phone on the bed and then running right back to call my mom. I was beyond excited and inspired, I couldn’t quite take it.
WOD: What style are you performing, and why?
J: Denise and I will be performing contemporary because it is our strongest style. We love to be able to openly incorporate many styles into one and share an emotional story through movement. There aren’t many boundaries when it comes to contemporary work and that makes the creative process very enjoyable and free.
WOD: How long have you been dancing?
D: I have been dancing since I was 3 and I have been dancing with Josh in the last 4 years.J: I have been dancing for 8 years.
WOD: Where do you draw inspiration from?
J: I draw inspiration from many things. People inspire me, people’s stories inspire me, and most of all my experiences and interactions with the world inspire me.
WOD: What do you think your fans would want to know about you?
D: We are opposites in personality but we have a lot of fun together.J: Some fun facts about me, I have a passion for fashion and I do yoga every day.
WOD: What are you most excited or nervous about being on the show?
D&J: We are both extremely nervous and excited to perform for the judges panel, those are legends that will be sitting before us and we don’t want to disappoint. We are very excited we have the opportunity to share our creations with the world and hope to inspire others.
WOD: Do you have a signature move?
D&J: Our signature would be our ability to tell a story. We try to stay away from going back to what we have done in the past and continue to look forward and innovate.
WOD: What sets you apart from the competition?
D&J: We have this special connection. When we go on stage and dance togetherwe aren’t just acting, we are living our story. We have to take time before going on stage to get into the true mindset of the story and believe the story we are telling rather then just forcing it. Our goal is for the audience to forget they are watching a performance and dive emotionally into the story.
WOD: What cause or organization do you care about and would like World of Dance to promote?
J: Mental Health is something that hits very close to home and I would love to promote donations to Pine River Institute near Shelburne, Ontario. Pine river is very near and dear to my heart.
