Tom Holland
This English actor stole our hearts at Peter Parker, but Tom Holland made his career debut on Broadway in the musical Billy Elliot. AT ten years old, Holland started taking ballet lessons in his garage before starting classes at Nifty Feet Dance School in Wimbledon. Holland explained to Interview Magazine that, “I didn’t really know what I wanted to be. My mom thought I could dance because I used to dance to this Janet Jackson song she’d play when I was a baby. Then she would take me to a Saturday dance school.” No wonder he can web-sling his way through the streets of New York with such ease. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0nNTklOKRA
Collin Farrell
Before he was one of the biggest actors in Hollywood, and one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the World, Farrell made a living as a line dancing instructor in Limerick. The In Bruges star told Conan O’Brian humbly that, “I did get paid to do something that resembled some form of dance possibly.” It is absolutely worth watching the clip below to see pictures of a young Farrell in western gear- complete with cowboy hat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oweVnyE9swQ
Mads Mikkelsen
Mads Mikkelsen may have terrified audiences in Hannibal but the Danish actor is also an incredible dancer. According to WhatCulture, Mikkelsen trained for almost a decade at the Balettakademien in Gothenburg and began his career as a professional dancer in the mid-eighties. He also met his wife, choreographer Hanne Jacobsen, while dancing before deciding to pursue an acting career at the age of thirty. Check out his incredible moves below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77My9qY2P44
Taylor Lautner
This Twilight tween heartthrob may have broken a lot of hearts as Jacob the werewolf, but he grew up participating in martial arts and taking jazz and hip-hop classes and dancing with groups LA Hip Kids and Hot Shots. He’s showed off his playful moves on Ellen but revealed to MTV that dancing with Kristen Stewart in Breaking Dawn made him anxious stating, "I was extremely nervous, especially when they told us there was going to be lifts and stuff, I was like, 'Are you kidding me? Are we on "Dancing With the Stars?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdRMuvlphCQ
Jean-Claude Van Damme
While he may be known as a kickboxing tough guy, Jean-Claude Van Damme actually studied classical ballet. Starting at the age of 16, Van Damme trained as a dancer for five years and has credited ballet with helping improve his martial arts skills. He has said that “Ballet is an art, but it’s also one of the most difficult sports. If you can survive a ballet workout, you can survive a workout in any other sport.” Van Damme appreciates and recognizes how difficult ballet is, saying, “Americans, of course, think ballet is for sissies. But they are very wrong. You see those legs of all those guys like Nureyev and Baryshnikov. They command a lot of power.”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE8XKeN0zk4
