In 50 words or less, give us a short biography of yourself.
I’m an actor and dancer from Paris who now resides in NYC. My mission is to promote positivism and create meaningful and healthy artistic collaborations between brands and other creative minds. I am signed with the leading dance agency BLOC and have performed with artists such as Taylor Swift, Ansel Elgort, Vintage Culture, Bob Sinclar, Magic System and worked with brands like Samsung, Nike, Lacoste and many more. I’m also a key member of the #WeLevitate group, an organization who keeps pushing the first global community of non-Photoshop levitation images curated by an ambassador roster of creative.
Tell us about the concept of the video, what inspired Joker?
After watching the movie, my friends and I were very inspired by it in many different ways. Not only was the movie visually appealing and very moody, the Joker was to me, a movement based character that I could relate to. I loved the way Joaquin Phoenix used his body to portray this villain. Other than his laugh, twisted mind and look made him scary, he was also very elegant and charming and - that’s what I think intrigued me the most. So when Erick Hercules called me a couple days ago and suggested we shoot a little something on the stairs where the movie was shot, I immediately agreed and decided to hit up Max Reed to also capture some video. The idea was to recreate the iconic stairs scene but with a little modern twist to it, using moves that everybody knows and a little comedy to the whole thing.
Tell us a bit about making the Joker music video
Well this was quite a process. As soon as Erick called me I said we had to hop on that train as soon as possible so we gave ourselves 3 days to come up with the whole concept and make it happen. Luckily enough, I had a red suit from some previous events so that helped a lot. I ordered a green shorts, yellow blazer, make up and hair coloring that same day. We picked the same song used in the song Rockn N’Roll by Gary Glitter because of it’s energy and originality. I then decided to come up with a fun choreography that would portray my Joker as someone who’s got skills and techniques but who also likes to fool around, hence mixing voguing, flossing, bboying and other steps. Erick and Max then worked their magic and were able to capture some of the best visual content I have to date.
What motivates and inspires you?
I’m inspired by people who go after their passions and create for the sake of creating. I think that as artists it is our mission to spread our love for what we do and motivate others to do the same. I’m also a big fan in the art of collaborating and working with other artistic people to come up with cool and fun concepts. It’s also a nice way to support one another and keep pushing our talented community to go out there and create.
What have been some of the highlights of your career?
I have so many amazing memories either performing or directing / producing shows. As the artistic director of SPIN we opened 7 clubs in 5 years and all of our Grand Openings were simply amazing. As a dancer, I got the chance to perform with Taylor Swift at the VMAS, which was pretty cool. I also got to work with amazing brands like Lacoste, Nike, Frosted Flaked, Samsung, Gap, John John Denim and many more…
Do you have any upcoming projects?
I always have ideas and projects in the making, My next big one is collaborating with artists in different fields than mine (models, foodies, chefs, architects, etc….) and creating an entire series of levitation photos around their crafts.
