What Season did you appear on?
Season 3
What has life been like since appearing on NBC’s World of Dance?
Life has been very busy since the conclusion of World of Dance in May. We finished our 8th and 10th grade years in school and kicked off summer with fun, local performances and preparing for our studio nationals at The Dance Awards.
What have been some of the biggest changes/opportunities that have happened?
After the show’s conclusion we were contacted by multiple non-profit organizations to do local performances at their annual meetings. It's been fun to perform in front of different types of audiences and give back to our community. We really appreciated all of the love and support we received from them while we were on the show. Additionally, we have been being contacted to perform in some international events, which is something that hadn’t even hit our radar before doing the show.
What is your best memory being on the show?
There were so many incredible memories made while we were on set, but our favorite by far was the group finale performance. This experience showed us how dance can unify cultures AND people. During the stress of preparing for our individual performances, this was an opportunity for all of us to learn, laugh and have fun together while producing something really special. We became so close with all of the finale contestants during this time. It’s a memory that we will never forget.
Would you ever consider competing on NBC’s World of Dance again?
We are happy with how we performed and placed this season, so we will not be auditioning to re-compete for Season 4. However, we would never rule out the possibility of returning in the future in another capacity.
What have you been up to since you appeared on the show?
Since the conclusion of WOD Season 3, we have been focused on continued training, competing and performing. Ava was able to perform back up to Prof Gampo this summer at Sound Set MN. We also performed at the Points of Light Annual Conference in St. Paul and the Twin Cities Ballroom Open Championships in Minneapolis. We attended our studio Nationals Dance Awards in Las Vegas where Ava passed on her National title as the 2018 Junior Best Dancer and Ellie was named the 2019 Senior Best Dancer in July! In addition to our studio training, we travelled to Chicago to attend The Kings Bollyhop workshop, Dance Awards Orlando, and most recently Dancerpalooza in LA. We have one last stop in Canada at the end of August to attend Camp Protégé. One of our favorite training trips of the year! During our trips to Chicago, Las Vegas and Orlando we were able to reconnect with many of our WOD friends.
What are your future plans/goals?
Ellie will be focused on her Junior year of high school and representing Break the Floor as Sr Best Dancer by traveling and working as many conventions as she can. Ava will be starting high school and training for the new year of competitions ahead. After high school, we both would like to become professional dancers in either LA or NY. Ellie would like to return to MN in the future to co-own and run Larkin with cousin and choreographer, Mackenzie Larkin Symanietz.
